How are lab-grown diamonds made？
A cultivated diamond typically begins with a diamond seed, which is usually a small laboratory-grown diamond. The seed will undergo a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high pressure high temperature (HPHT) process to create a full lab diamond.
CVD is a chemical weather deposition method in which a diamond wafer is placed in a specific environment and a chemical gas of carbon atoms is introduced to activate and release the carbon atoms, which accumulate on the diamond wafer to create a complete diamond.
HPHT is a high temperature and high pressure method where the diamond wafer is placed in a high temperature and high pressure environment where graphite is melted to break down the carbon atoms and the diamond crystals act as guides for the carbon lattice, which soon becomes complete and guides new layers of carbon to form a complete diamond.
